Alison Whiteaker is a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT) who graduated from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She has been working in the Hoarding Disorder and Eating Disorder fields for the past several years and prior to that worked in elementary education for over fifteen years. Alison is client-centered, helping the client feel heard while highlighting their strength and growth areas. Alison works from a variety of perspectives from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral) to Ambiguous loss and tailors her therapy to the needs of the client. She believes that clients have the keys to successful living within themselves and sometimes need help accessing those keys through building support systems, reducing anxiety, improving coping skills and looking into experiences that have altered one’s thinking. Alison works with individuals, couples, families and groups surrounding concerns with anxiety and depression, trauma and loss, life transitions and other issues as they arise. Alison wants to empower her clients in a safe therapeutic environment and help them translate that into the world outside of the therapy office. In her time outside of the therapy office, Alison likes to spend time with her family and friends, try new restaurants, go hiking and camping and work on puzzles.
